Headaches & Migraines

There are many different conditions that can cause headaches. And few things have more substantial impact on our quality of life. The key to successfully treating headaches is understanding the cause.

Headaches & Migraines

There are many different kinds of headaches. Two of the most common are tension headaches and migraines.

Tension headaches are caused by tightness in the muscles, tendons, and fascial membranes of the head and neck. Tightness in these structures can increase fluid pressures, activating pain receptors. With gentle hands-on therapy, it is possible to release these areas of tightness, normalizing the tension in the muscles tendons, which relieves the pain.

Migraines can have several different things contributing to them. Many people have gotten relief from migraines by identifying and avoiding their food triggers. Other people may have improvement from a detox program. In our experience, gentle manual therapy to release tension in the muscles of the neck and the membranes of the skull helps a lot with migraines. Combining manual therapy with dietary changes and detoxification can often produce great results in getting rid of migraines.

“The best decision I ever made was going to see Dr. Pleau. I have had daily headaches for several years now and after many doctors and medications that only helped temporarily relieve the pain and made me feel terrible, I was convinced this is just the way my life was going to be. Imagine my surprise when after my first visit with Dr. Pleau I didn’t have a headache for a few days. I had weekly appointments for 6 weeks and I am pleased to say I no longer have to take medication or even aspirin for the daily headaches because there are no more headaches.”
